4 days a week for me - on a 3 way split, so cycling through 3 different workouts.
I've found I have to tone it down a bit when off - just 3 days a week.
Recovery is a big issue as I also spend a fair bit of time doing martial arts - which definitely comprises the weights to some degree. So if I'm off, I really have to tone it down to 3 times a week or I just get whipped.
